2019

We settled on the Ebb earring design in rose 9ct gold as a starting point. The snug lobe fitting suited the clients idea of a comfortable, easy every day earring.
The method of positioning and welding the griff settings onto the earring structure using plaster (to position) and wax (to hold firm) is a traditional technique in fine jewelry. It’s a game of airiness and strength, to create hidden structures that leave the gems seemingly suspended in air. The cleaner the job, the finer the hand.

The oval space in this design was perfect for us to use as a frame within which to suspend the gems, using delicate grif settings that reveal as much as possible of the stones. The mix of a contemporary earring shape and the details of the fine jewelry stone settings marries perfectly.
